Did you know that Outdoor products face import tariffs on average of about 14 percent and as high as almost 40 percent? And that outdoor companies paid $7.7 billion in tariffs (from January to November 2019) on affected products sourced from China, compared to $4.6 billion in 2017? About half of all US imports are used as inputs in manufacturing and trade barriers like tariffs raise costs to businesses and consumers, stifle innovation and hinder U.S. job growth.

This $887 billion in annual consumer spending creates the outdoor recreation economy that directly supports 7.6 million American jobs and generates $125 billion in federal, state and local tax revenue. Here in Colorado, the Outdoor Industry contributes to 229,000 jobs directly, $28 billion in consumer spending, and $9.7 billion in wages and salaries.
