Meet & Greet with Swedish Film Maker of “the Reunion”, Anna Odell

We have the privilege of hosting a Meet & Greet with the very talented Swedish film maker, Anna Odell. In a casual setting she will, amongst other things, share her experiences as the Writer, Director and Star Actress of the movie The Reunion. The film is her first and the winner of three Guldbagge (Swedish Oscars) awards:

Anna is in Denver thanks to Film Festival Flix and their VIP Permiere showing of the Reunion on Wednesday 4/15. Read more about their event and by tickets on Film Festival Flix’ website.

During the evening we will also hear from the start-up non-profit Friends Colorado, an organization working with bullying prevention. Friends educates and supports schools and sports clubs with the vision to see young children and adolescents grow up in a safe and secure society where everyone is treated equally.

Anna Odell was born the 3rd of October 1973 in Stockholm and graduated from two of the most highly valued institutions in Sweden: University College of Arts, Craft and Design, and the Royal Institute of Art.

Synopsis of  the Reunion
Moving the past into the present, the Reunion raises questions about harassment, fear, courage, identity and belonging. The film opens with a class reunion where Anna Odell investigates what might have happened if she, a victim of childhood bullying, were to have been invited to her 20th high school reunion. Anna Odell plays herself and actors play the roles of her former class-mates. The dinner party ends in chaos and Odell is eventually evicted by force by her classmates. Act II begins, and we learn that what we just saw was a staging, a “mise en scène”, by Odell, who then makes calls to her real class mates inviting them to watch the “mise en scène” with her, and asking for an open discussion about their common past.
