Talk about Space Telescopes at the Astronomical Frontier – September 25

SACC-CO is delighted to invite you to a fascinating evening exploring Space Telescopes at the Astronomical Frontier with Dr. Gregory Wirth of BAE Systems.

Dr. Wirth will take us behind the scenes of NASA’s most advanced space observatories, sharing how:
• The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will transform our understanding of dark matter and dark energy with imaging power 100 times greater than Hubble and Webb.
• The upcoming Habitable Worlds Observatory aims to detect and study Earth-like exoplanets through groundbreaking optical design.
• The James Webb Space Telescope is unveiling the universe in stunning infrared detail, offering discoveries unlike any before.

This engaging talk is designed for everyone with an interest in astronomy—no prior astronomy background required.

A reception will follow the talk on the stunning terrace of the Ritchie School of engineering and computer science, featuring a generous selection of hors d’oeuvres including antipasto, fine cheeses, savory bruschetta, filet mignon canapés, and a vegetarian goat cheese tart, complemented by an assortment of gourmet mini desserts. An open bar will be available with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Weather permitting, guests will also have the unique opportunity to view the night sky through telescope.
